Who is this course for?

This qualification is for individuals working in or seeking employment in the seafood or maritime industries, who aim to:

• Command a commercial vessel up to 45 metres within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) as Master, or
• Serve as Mate on vessels up to 100 metres

Additional Requirements

All students are required to complete an Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN) and a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test prior to enrolment. For further details, please refer to the UAN Guide available below.

Time Commitment

Theory: Self-paced online – Accessible for 12 months
Master up to 45 Metres Near Coastal: 250 hours of online study
Practical: Conducted on campus – 30 days (Mon – Fri)

• Full attendance is required
• Out-of-hours study is also expected

Certification Upon successful completion, you’ll receive:

• MAR40324 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45 metres Near Coastal)
