Who is this qualification for?

This skill set is designed for people working or seeking work in the seafood or maritime industries, particularly those operating near coastal commercial marine vessels. Completion is a key requirement for most near coastal deck-side Certificates of Competency.

Training & Assessment Overview

The course is delivered in a flexible blended learning format, offering 24/7 access to theory components, allowing you to balance study with other commitments.

• On-campus practical assessments

Additional Requirements

All students are required to complete an Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN). For further details, please refer to the UAN Guide.

• Valid Photo ID (e.g., Driver’s Licence)
• A photo will also be taken on the day for the OMC application

Time Commitment

Theory: Self-paced online – Accessible for 12 months

Marine Radio Operator: Approximately 8 hours of online study

Practical: Conducted on campus – 1 day (Mon – Fri)

Fees & Inclusions

Including application fee for the Office of Marine Communication (OMC) Long Range Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP).
