The Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy (AMFA) has recently acquired a new training vessel, the Westcoaster. This addition marks a significant advancement in maritime education, as the academy is integrating the vessel into its Virtual Reality (VR) simulator program. The innovative approach allows students to undergo immersive and interactive training experiences using VR technology before stepping onto the actual vessel.
Maritime students at AMFA can now train on the Westcoaster within the VR simulator, providing a realistic and practical learning environment. This hands-on training approach enhances safety protocols and ensures that students are well-prepared for real-world maritime challenges.
The vessel comes fully equipped with amenities such as a galley, dinette, microwave, gas BBQ, fridge/freezers, toilet/shower, 100l hot water system, and sullage tank. It holds current AMSA Survey certification, with a renewal completed in November. Make sure to check out AMFA’s range of maritime & fisheries courses.
